Many Good Tips on How to Overcome Overthinking
Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2026
I really enjoyed this book. If you are a person like me who tends to overthink everything and hold yourself back from doing many of the things you would like to do in life because of fear, then this is the book for you. It covers many things that you need help with when you are allowing anxiety to rule and control your actions, such as why your mind doesn't shut off, but instead keeps going over and over the problems or situations that you've dwelt on throughout the day. It also covers why your ruminating thoughts become even worse at night, when you climb into bed to sleep.
I really liked that the author broke down which part of the brain was making you think the way you do, and gave quite a few methods a person can use consistently to change the brain. This part was important because many times we think we are just born this way and that it is a part of our personality, but the author explains how, when you consistently make small changes like the way you breathe or labeling your thoughts instead of just accepting them, you can truly become a person who is more resilient in every aspect of life.
Totally recommend for those of us who’s brains keeping going.

I like the way the book is written. It's written like a normal "self-help" would be written. It's short and airy, not congested, not overly worded, long, or overwhelming. It goes through each chapter giving a realistic example of how you might be feeling, and then walks you through would you could/should do! I would recommend this book!

This book gave me more insight into my mind while I have an anxiety attack and how to use real life scenarios to cope with overthinking.
I have used many of the strategies suggested but the biggest help was using the worry window. Recommend this book highly

I’ve spent years working with high school and college students who struggle with overthinking and anxiety, and this finally gave me language for what I’ve been seeing.
I love how practical it is (not just theory), especially things like thought loops and grounding techniques.
I can already see myself using these tools directly with my students, which says everything.
